Hosted IP PBX, also known as “cloud PBX” or “virtual PBX,” moves the functions of onsite PBX hardware to the cloud or more accurately, a data centre. Instead of connecting telephones to an on-premise PBX, IP phones simply plug into your router or switch via existing CAT 5 network cable and connect to secure data centres so you can make and receive calls via VoIP. With all the features of an on-premise PBX and more, delivered seamlessly to desk phones, computers, and even mobile devices.
In most cases existing network infrastructures can be used to connect IP desk or DEC phones to the hosted PBX while utilising high speed fibre internet to make and receive calls eliminating expensive line rentals from traditional providers. If only a few lines are required to make and receive calls, standard ADSL will suffice in areas where higher speed fibre is not yet available.
Existing phone numbers can be moved (ported) to the hosted system with little or no interruption to your calls whilst greatly reducing call costs
